Going, Going, Almost Gone

It's warming up nicely. If the powers that be could give us another 30 or 40 degrees, things would be perfect. But right now I am thankful for 45 degrees. Since we've been snowed in for the past week, it's been pretty cool watching the snow melt away bit by bit.

Here's what my backyard looked like for the last 4 days.

By the way, if you are bored come March/April, we can sure use some landscaping help :)

Magical Love

She giggles.
He whispers her name.
She glows.
He smiles.
Then kisses her softly.
She giggles again.
She's in love.
He's head over heels.
Their love is magical.
She's speechless

He was married before.
So was she.
He was a widower.
She was a widow.
Each had adult children and grandchildren.
So when love like this happened, it was really magical.

I shot this wedding last year. It was truly a beautiful, magical event. As their children, the bridesmaids and groomsmen, stood on either side to witness them saying "I do" I knew that the merging of these families would be unforgettable and magical.

The flower girls, two of the grandchildren, were so excited to 'prep' the aisle for the beautiful bride.

Weddings details are my favorite. The flowers and the bridal headpiece were to-die-for.

I have a dream, that one day.............

It's Sunday. One week down. 50 more to go. Last week was a curve ball in my plan for the week. It snowed. The kids stayed home all week. This meant that everything I had in mind went out the window and Plan Cabin Fever was in motion.

But here I am. It's day 1 all over again. Tomorrow is MLK holiday -- A day on and not a day off. It's a day that for me is filled with quotes like "I have a dream, that one day....." It's  question that I have a million answers to.

I have a dream, that one day....
  • I will have a successful photography business
  • My house will be constantly clean
  • I will have well adjusted adult children
  • cooking will be optional
  • I wil live in a world where I am judged by the content of my character.
What's your dream?

A few weeks ago, we had a playdate at The Interactive Neighborhood for Kids. It's a pretty cool place, especially for young toddlers. On the wall there were quotes that moved me. Today we are on the cusp of the birthday celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, as I look back on those quotes, I am reminded to live on purpose, with vision, and to be the star of my own show.

Life after the photoshoot

The session was wonderful. We had a great time. You were gorgeous. I have edited the photos, sent them to you and now you're ooh-ing and aah-ing over them all. This is better than you expected (at least that's what I hope for) Right?

Well, what's next?

Today, so many of us (myself included) have tons and tons of digital images but just a handful, if any printed pictures. Never fear! Photos by Pru to the rescue. Really, truthfully, there's nothing more beautiful than a printed photograph. Really, there isn't. If you love the digital photo then you should think about getting it printed and displayed somewhere.

You can pretty much go anywhere to get your photos developed but keep in mind that all printing services aren't created equal. Your local Walmart or pharmacy may do a pretty ok job at printing but nothing compares to the professional photo labs. If you're wondering just what to do, think about postcards for holidays and birthday invitations or maybe thank you's or save the dates. Or maybe you can have all the photos from your session in a beautifully designed photo book. It's priceless.

Remember, your computer could crash, your phone could go caput or maybe you just need to send a couple photos to your mother-in-law who just doesn't really do the computer thing.

Lesson o' the day, print your favorite pics. Why? Well, holding a photograph is still a pretty nice thing. :)

Project 52 :: Week 2 :: Let's get married

What is Project 52?

It's is a weekly submission of a photo based on a theme. Photos must have been taken that week because the goal is to practice, practice, practice and be challenged.

The theme for week 2 is 'Illustrate a song.' That's about where I almost quit and threw in the towel. I know, I'm chicken, it's only week 2 and I'm really to quit. But I'm up for the challenge and I will make it all year.

Jagged Edge sings a song called, "Let's get married" and everytime I hear the song I think of a random couple who may have been dating for a while but for various reasons have not yet taken the plunge. In my mind, I see them getting married no matter what. They put on their fanciest clothes and nothing stops the show. Not rain, sleet or snow. For me, this is a 'love conquers all' song.

So, this week when it snowed, all I could think about was doing a white on white with the snow and the wedding dress. So my submission this week is 'Let's Get Married.'

My Favorite Girl :: Project 52

She's my favorite girl in the whole wide world and I tell her that all the time. Her shirt, Laugh Out Loud, is her mantra for living. That belly, body shaking, high pitched screach, all 8 teeth showing, mouth wide open, see her tonsils kinda laugh is the way she goes about her day. She's busy as a bee, and those new legs get their share of exercise, stomping all over the house. She's the littlest thing around the house a miniature me. Her favorite thing, besides talking to 'Bestest' on the phone is feeding herself. There's no food getting in her mouth unless she's feeding herself. Rice, porridge, crackers, fruit, doesn't matter. She's the gate keeper. But I must admit, she's pretty good. A little messy but pretty good.

This year, I am participating in Project 52. Once a week, a theme is announced and each participant will submit a photo. I am excited. This will definitely be a challenge but great practice. I am little late out of the block but last week's theme was 'Something Around The House.' My favorite girl is definitely around the house and since she makes me heart smile, she's my Project 52, Week 1 submission.

Cheers to a fabulous little lady.

It's a Winter Wonderland

Yup, there's snow in Georgia. Lots of it. Well, not a lot but enough to shut down the city for two days. When I look out the window, all I see is white, white and more white. It makes me think of random things like wedding dresses, fire logs, playing in the snow and which brave person has dared to drive in that mess. The icicles are dripping which instantly let's me know that it's freezing (brrrr) outside but if I had my way I'd rather be on the beach somewhere.

So, if you want to do me a favor, ask Mr. Almighty to warm things up for me, please, pretty please.

Here's the view.

Now tell the truth. Would you rather have THIS?
or THIS?

A year later :: Stone Mountain Children's Photographer

Remember this beauty queen? She was just a few days old and about to leave the hospital when her Mommy (me) took this picture.

Well, it's been a little over a year! My how time flies. She's all grown up and a bundle of sunshine. We all LOVE her to pieces.

There's a boy on the way :: Photos by Pru :: Atlanta Maternity Photographer

Yes, Yes, Yes, there's a boy on the way. They've been waiting and wanting him for so long. He's loved already. This was a mother/daughter maternity session. It was beautiful to see the Mommy taking care of her baby who is having her very own baby. I'm really not capable of putting it into words. It was beautiful and moving and a genuine demonstration of the gentleless of motherly love being passed from one generation to the next. Pictures have emotion, and this one speaks volumes.
