The view from here :: Project 52 :: Week 8

I wish I didn't have to do it.
Then it would be something I only did for fun.

I know I'm weird but eating, and worse, cooking, are not on my list of favorite things to do.

Except for the part about being hungry and irritable (and wanting to lose weight), I wish it could be on the list of 'Things I do for fun.'

Lately, I've been trying to incorporate extra doses of fruits and veggies into my diet. Veggie Burgers were on the menu this week. And this is The View From Here.

Oh, and our fruit of the week was ...... (ta da!)

Pleasant Memories :: Lithonia Family Photographer

When I was a little girl, probably about 9 or so, I saw a picture of my mother when she was about my age.  She was wearing a white lacy dress and her hair was neatly combed and she had a ribbon in her hair. I was enamored with who that little girl was, and so, I would to ask questions about her life as a little girl. It made her a real person, not just my Mommy. Suddenly, I realized in that moment that she used to be a little girl, just like me.

Every Sunday evening, after dinner, we would sit on the porch, she would play her guitar and we would sing. I thought that she had the most beautiful voice I had ever heard. We'd talk about random things between songs. Anything that my little mind could conjure up. We would make-up stories and talk about her life as a little girl. I asked her all kind of questions, like ......

"Mommy, did you have a best friend when you were a little girl?"
"Mommy, did you play dolly house when you were a little girl?"
"Mommy, did you have pretty dresses when you were a little girl?"
"Mommy, did you ....
"Mommy, did you.....

The questions never stopped.

One day I asked my mother a question unlike any other question.

"Mommy, who do you love the most?" Her answer was perfect. "I love all of you differently." It was just the answer I needed. I skipped away and returned to whatever wonderful thing I was doing like playing with my dolls.

Every time, I look at the pictures from this family session, I think of my mother's answer and realize that love is a wonderful, amazing, thing and Mommy's and Daddy's always have more than enough to go around. Besides, who could resist loving these cutie-pies.

Open Your Heart :: Project 52 :: Week 7 :: Wedding

I love you. I love you. Let me count the ways.

It finally happened. I went back to the place where I got married to photograph someone else taking the same step in life. It was beautiful and nostalgic and sentimental. It was the place where I opened my heart to loving him for the rest of my life, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and health, till death do us part.

The Project 52 theme for Week 7 was Open Your Heart. A wedding is the ultimate in Open Heart surgery. It is choosing someone that doesn't share your blood lines, that doesn't share your history, whom you choose to create life with. Your life. Or someone else's. But love makes you open your heart.

A cutie pie

Now tell me, who can resist a cutie pie like this one? He is delighful and handsome and a stayed awake the entire time. But when you have beautiful eyes like his, you wouldn't want the lady with the big, black camera to miss any of your handsomeness.

Project 52 :: Week 6 Recap :: Words

I was 6 weeks old before I had a name. My parents just couldn't come to any sort of agreement on what to name me. My mother loved Abigail and Daddy was insistent on Prudence. He loved the meaning and wanted me to live up to the meaning of the name more than anything....and there was an older lady that he knew and looked up to who had the name. You can only guess who won.

It was hard name to have as a child but as an adult I have grown to love the name because it's meaning is really something to aspire to. This week I celebrated a birthday and they gave me a card that makes me think that they're kinda, sorta proud of me.

Cheer's to Prudence.

(yes, my name is in the dictionary and the bible)

(I think they love me...ALOT!)

Oh and I have wonderful friends that love me lots too :)

  (and I have a wonderful, smart, intelligent son who wrote a 'secret' sentence for me to read.....*giggles*)
I am blessed.

Project 52 :: Week 5 (a bit late) :: Muse

There are many definitions of the word muse. It can be both a verb and a noun. (Didn't know that) But the definition I like the most is :

muse :: source of inspiration

Frankly, I have many muses but the one that gets photographed the least is the inspiration for this week's theme. It's rare that the photographer get's photographed. To add to that, people seem to have an aversion to taking candids of anyone holding an slr.

So, when I want picture of myself, I have to get the remote, set the self timer or find a big mirror.

So, in honor of my soon-to-be birthday, today's muse is Me!
Today, I am the photographer and the model and I kinda like the results. :)

Project 52 :: Week 4 (a little late) :: Soothing Repitition

Confession. I've been busy. I was on hiatus for December and January and declined new sessions and just chilled. Well, sorta. I was working on some creative projects and filling print orders, creating digital files, backing up my computer and going through the motions of my annual review/projection for 2010/2011.

That all changed last weekend. I jumped back into the swing of things with an awesome engagement shoot to kick off the fun.  Since, I had a few things to finish up, I didn't get a chance to post my Project 52 pictures for the last two weeks.

Week 4's theme was Soothing Repetition. Week 5 will be posted in a few.

Making a choice

It's not often (or ever) that I publish photos of a distinct religious nature. But since I believe in 'Capturing Life, One Click at a Time' it's part of what I do. I photograph people and happy times. I capture momumental occassions like weddings, engagements and birthdays. I also capture the sadness of life like funerals and loss. But occassionally, I bring my camera to church and photograph someone making his/her own decision of a lifetime. This was such an occassion. Here are a few of the photographs.

BTW, for the photogs out there, this entire occasion was shot with a 50mm, 1.8 lens.

10 more days till Valentine's Day

It's 10 more days until Valentine's Day but these two don't have to wait that long. Love is already in the air for them. They are definitely very happy and very much in love.

If our session is any indication of their approach to life and love, then they are definitely guaranteed a long and lasting love.

There was a song by Clay Aiken (Something About Us) that kept playing in my head during our time together.

People really stopped (or slowed) and noticed the fun that we were having. There was the guy that yelled out, 'Kiss him good,' when we were doing the kissing shots. Then there were the people who smiled or stared or drove by slowly when he was dipping her in the middle of the Peachtree Street for a fun shot. (more pics coming soon).

So this verse to the song, really, really applies. There is truly something about those two.

People smile when they walk by
There's too much magic to deny
A fool can see we're meant to be
'cause there's something about us,
something about us

I'm still editing but I'll share a sneak peak. More pics to come.
